Minister's Message
If I had a choice between preaching a regular sermon or a children's sermon, I would prefer to preach a regular sermon any day of the week. In seminary, ministers receive substantial training in the art of preaching. However, unless one seeks it out, he or she will not learn how to preach a good children's sermon.
Luckily, someone did advise me to learn more about children's sermons while I was in seminary. Even after all of my efforts to learn more, I must admit that I still struggle to put together a children's sermon that will make sense and stick with each child.
Each child learns in a different way. To make things even more difficult, kids learn differently at different stages in their lives. I try to take all of this into consideration when I write each message. However, it is still a tough job. There has been weeks when I have spent more than two hours trying to write a good children's sermon.
My hope is that everyone will pay attention to the children's sermons. Moreover, I hope that they will go home and talk about them with their kids or grandkids. The true success of a children's sermon does not completely rely on how they are composed. They are most successful when they are incorporated into the kids' weekly lives.

Baked in Christian Love!
Louisa Christian Church Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF) gave their hearts last Saturday. Around one o'clock the church''s kitchen filled with over 15 volunteers and wonderful aromas as the Louisa Christian Church CWF gave their hearts and hands to make and bake homemade heart-shaped-crusted chicken pot pies, fresh garden salads and oatmeal raisin cookies. Each meal was lovingly packaged with heart-shaped napkins and a personalized Valentine card. With cars loaded with piping hot meals, teams set out to deliver these sumptuous meals and lots of love.
Although the Louisa Christian Church CWF has deep roots extending back over one hundred fifty years, our CWF have made significant changes that will continue to be felt and appreciated for many years to come. "Saturday afternoon's effort was our way of expressing our debt of gratitude and love to those people whose active involvement in our church community we value so highly," said Wynne Fleshman, CWF Vice President.

The Baptism of the Lord
Stones slip under feet that soon
will be scarred by Roman nails
as he wades into the muddy Jordan,
his robe swelling round his slender waist.
The Baptist's hand rises like a dove
and water cascades over head and beard,
drops winking like jewels in the Judean sun.
For just an instant, time stands still:
like the waters of this ancient stream,
past, present and future coalesce:
the beginning of the end, the end of the beginning.

Board News
Every month the church's General Board meets to discuss business, determine the direction of the church, and make tough decisions. However, some of this information does not always get back to all of the folks in the church.
Beginning this month, there will be a brief section in the newsletter to update everyone about what is happening at the board meetings. The Official Board Minutes are also available to read if you would like more information about board happenings.
If you have a moment, thank those folks who faithfully attend the board meetings and do so much work to support the church.
Recent board news:
- The Elders are holding quarterly meetings ... the next one will be on March 7.
- The Child Protection Policy has been passed by the board. See Matthew with questions.
- There is a list in the vestibule for those who would like to buy flowers for the sanctuary.

A Great Joke
How you know it is time to tithe a little more:
- Parking meters have been installed in the church parking lot.
- The choir replaced their old choir robes with their bathrobes.
- The church heat was turned back to 55 for the worship service.
- You can't call the church office because the phone was disconnected.
