Minister's Message
I can always tell when it is almost graduation time. Every year, when that time rolls around, my wife comes home looking like she has been hit by a train. School can be rough! By the end of the year, the kids and the teachers are ready for summer and a nice break.
I remember my own graduation from high school. The most memorable part was my haircut. As a child I was plagued with curly hair. Big, curly hair. I couldn't stand it! By my senior year, I had learned that I could go the barber and get my hair cut really short into a fade and my curly hair did not get a chance to show.
The only problem was that all of those trips to the barber cost a lot money. I might add, money that a high senior did not have. The night before graduation I decided to cut my own hair. Of course, it did not go so well. I ended up with a completely bald head (a decidedly worse outcome than the curly hair).
Looking back to that occasion, I always laugh at myself. I had made a lot of plans for what I was going to do, even if I was a little too lazy at the time to see them through. I guarantee you, going to college and three years of seminary were nowhere on my list of plans. I certainly had not planned to become a minister.
As we peer back over the winding course of our lives, it is often easier to see God at work. That is the case for me. Somehow or another, I have always ended up okay. I have worked hard (most of the time), tried to do the right thing (most of the time, again), and have made an effort to keep my faith in God. That would be the advice I would give to any person graduating from high school or college.
However, most importantly, remember to consult God as you make your plans. But, don't be surprised when your plans completely fail. Keep your faith! God is just around the corner to guide you through the confusion.

A Joyful Noise
While the Music Committee continues to search for a Music Director, if you can help by singing in the choir, play for a worship service, provide special music, or help in anyway, please contact Mary Eden or Pat Purcell. The choir will strive to keep things running as smoothly as possible and we ask for your patience and prayers as we go through this transition period.
Baptisms
On Easter Sunday, Louisa Christian Church celebrated the baptism of two of its youth. Miranda Donovan and Andrew Perkinson were baptized on March 23 at the church. Andrew and Miranda, both, took a class on baptism and church membership.
Also, Miranda's mom, Melonie came forward to join the church.
Louisa Christian Church is happy to have Andrew, Miranda, and Melonie as part of its fellowship. Please, if you see one of them, give them a friendly handshake or hug.
Sunrise at Johnson's Pond
Our church had a wonderful Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday thanks to the hospitality of the Purcell family. For a second year in a row, the temperatures were very cool, but that did not stop people from coming out. The crowd was full, the music provided by John and Mary was wonderful, and the coffee was hot. More importantly, worshiping as the sun rose was a powerful reminder of the new life that God gives us through Jesus Christ. Who could ask for more?
Graduation
This year, four seniors, Kenny Fleming, Amber Swasey, Tiffany Vawter, and Sarah Shoupe will be graduating from our church. In one way or another, these four have been a part of our church for a long time and we are very proud of them. If you see one of them, give a word of congratulation or consider sending them a card. Wherever they go and whatever they do, may God's grace and favor be upon them.
